Cool story, needs more dragons.

You know that you are up shit creek without a paddle when you begin to ponder on the possibility that life in the dark and slightly over-exaggerated mythical times, where dragons polluted the skies, seems like a lovely vacation from your current reality.

Life is a tricky little thing isn't it, we are placed on this planet naked, scared and crying later to find that a large portion of life is spent in this state of mind. Maybe a little less naked, that is a whole new ball park. It is the thing of good vs evil or more so, identifying what these two words even mean. What makes a good person? I don't like this word good, or more so the stereotype of "GOOD" that I obsess over. I often like to do things of good will, and try to spread a smile. Instead, I find myself getting lost in my mind, ultimately screwing things up and coming out at the end with no recollection of why I did what I had done.

What is it that fuels our mind, pushes us to make decisions that we wouldn't usually make. Okay, so lets face it. There is always one big one called Lady Liquor. Alcohol, you choose it, but only sometimes will it choose you in return. One night it is your best friend, the next it is tricking you to do things you wouldn't usually do, only to wake up the next morning for it to have left you lying alone to deal with the consequences. BUT you can not blame Lady Liquor, because this is the risk you are taking when you choose to feel that burn down your throat and that shiver down your spine.

So, taking alcohol out of the picture, what now? I am going to wrap it up in to a disappointing little present of underlying insecurities. These insecurities that fuel these quotes that get us, well maybe I am just speaking for myself, in to a lot of tricky situations. They go a little like this:

"You only live once"
"What if I didn't"
& the killer "Why not? What is the worse that can happen?"

With that third one, usually I say that, but never actually think of the worst thing that could happen. It is a really stupid state of mind, trust me - that state of mind broke my spine.

Now is where I will cue, Newtons Law. Correct me if my reference is wrong - every action has an equal reaction. So cliche, but so true.

I was going to continue by saying: think before you act, or consider the consequences of everything you do but, that is not easy my friends. I like to think that we learn from our mistakes But remember, you can never take your past away, you can only put it behind you and try to move forward.

Slowly things will always get better (in most scenarios), but then they get worse. That is just the big middle finger of life. Naked and crying seems pretty good compared to some of the things that are waiting for you around the corner.

I would now like to apologize for my deep and somewhat depressing blog entry. Looking back, this entry is actually all over the place, as is my life and the scattered remains of my mind. If you have made it this far, well done and thank you for letting my rambles captivate you.

To leave on a remotely positive note, good luck readers and remember that you'll always need the bad times to be able to properly respect the good times.

With love,
from the person you may think you know so well that barely even knows herself,
Tessa Rose.

Fine print: No, this is not where I am going to say that you have been charged 1c per word read and a fee for clicking on this blog. I just want to say, and again I rarely do this like I said that last time I did this, unfortunately this is a part that is aimed at only one person. If you are reading this, and you will know who you are: just know that I am thinking about you.

What will you do with your opportunity?

It more astounds me, than it does amaze. Time is just something that there is never enough of, even when it may feel like it is dragging on - you never know how truly lucky you are to be living in that moment, until its gone.

I will now take this opportunity to apologize for my absence. It is one thing to manage your time, but procrastination is a whole new game. But I am here now, that is all that matters.

Right now, present time. People lack the capability of living in the moment, focusing on right now. Don't get me wrong, I am saying this simply because it is one of my main troubles. Not only myself, but I know others too have difficulty with this - it is often that we find ourselves reminiscing the past or planning the future. The focus relies on how you are feeling, but how you are feeling is determined on your focus - therefore, how are you meant to know how you feel if you are living in a different time? You just read that sentence, it is now in the past, but the way your mind is accepting this next sentence is 100% influenced by the nature of the last one. Have I confused you yet? Good.

The mind is a powerful thing, that never ceases to surprise and confuse me. Many avoid thinking about it really. Psychology, there are a million books - twice as many websites; but we are still never going to be a step ahead. Some things in this life aren't meant to be explained, and that is the thrill of it. Not knowing what life will throw at your next but trying to keep the faith that what ever does happen, it is for a reason.

This can be so difficult though. When you are stuck in, what I like to think of as the cloudy abysmal parts of life, you can only see negative. You try to see positive, but it always seems to have this negative response, making you realize how shit what you are going through at that time really is compared to that time when it all seemed so simple.

Forever rewinding, fast forwarding; never simply hitting pause.

Every second passing, is a memory. The seconds approaching, are opportunities to create new memories.

Don't waste time, because (and I repeat) you never know how truly lucky you are to be living in that moment, until it is GONE.

I would like to think that my last few minutes bashing my laptop keyboard can be seen as inspirational, maybe its not your cup of tea? Oh well, you made it this far so I must of done something right to keep you captivated.

Just to finish up, I will give you a brief update:
Radio show is still kicking fierce, few ups and downs but I still find myself in love with the process of radio broadcast. Below I have attatched the link to my most recent show (wednesday 30th may). You will find my ARTS ON AIR segment at 5 minutes and 49 seconds in to the podcast. If you have a listen, feel free to tell me what you think.

Thank you for optimizing this moment to support my dream to write and perform.

Promotional Appeal.

Followers, I understand to you this post may seem a little pointless but I assure you - I have not gone insane or lost my touch. This post is in regards to some promotional work I have been looking at and therefore I am doing a post including some snaps of myself in the scenario of a potential employer looking for someone to do face to face promotional work.

Article - Rupert Murdoch & Journalistic Power.

The Price of a Story
When journalism becomes a million dollar scandal - Tessa O’Neill reports.

Rupert Murdoch could be considered as the ruler of the media industry, being founder, CEO and chairman of Global Media Holding News Corporation – the largest media company in the world. But, everyone knows success comes at a price. It is often difficult to make your way to the top by playing closely to the rules, so therefore when the topic of Rupert Murdoch comes up, are words such as loyalty and honesty the first things to come to mind?

Rupert Murdoch was thrown in to the media industry at the young age of 21, with the takeover of the directorial position of “News Limited” from his father in 1952. It did not take long for Murdoch to get a taste of that success that flared his competitive edge, following with the expansion to the United Kingdom after purchasing news publication companies “News of the World” and “The Sun”. After being in the media management industry for less than a decade, Murdoch already owned multiple companies across Australia and New Zealand and two of the largest publication companies in the United Kingdom, yet this was still only the beginning. The 1980’s saw Murdoch’s expansion to the United States of America, as he bought the “New York Times” in 1981 then continued to gain citizenship in 1985. Murdoch, now a proud American citizen, continued to acquire multiple successful media publication and broadcast companies such as “Twentieth Century Fox” in 1985, “Harper Collins” in 1989 and the “Wall Street Journal” in 2007. Rupert Murdoch was rapidly becoming the most successful man in the media industry, owning over 800 companies in 50 different countries by the year 2000, with an estimated net cost of over $5 billion.

Rupert Murdoch had obtained the success and money that many people can only dream of, but success is like a drug. The rush of having control becomes an addiction that is increasingly difficult to fulfil. Being at the top of a business food chain, it is your responsibility to take the repercussions of the actions of those bellow you. In July 2011, Rupert Murdoch was faced with allegations that employees from his company, “News of the World”, had been hacking the phones of innocent people in the chase for a top selling story. Suspicion was first aroused when there was an unusual discovery in the UK’s “Milly Dowler” abduction and murder case. Police had discovered that recorded messages on Dowler’s voicemail box had been heard and deleted, giving hope to police and the Dowler family that Milly may have still been alive. It was later discovered that Glenn Mulcaire, a private investigator hired by “News of the World” employees had gained access to the voicemail and was passing his findings to be exploited and used as a journalistic ploy for “News of the World”.

Discovering that employees of Murdoch’s company “News of the World” had been exploiting people for their selfless gain quickly erupted, causing an elaborate investigation in to the company and Mulcaire’s files. Investigations unravelled deceit and abuse of power, with the discovery of files containing personal information from the telephones of deceased British soldiers and families of the London 7/7 bombing victims. Murdoch’s credibility was depreciating faster than a modern day new year’s resolution, with many sponsors and partners losing faith in his professionalism. Murdoch’s years of hard work and strategic business moves were falling to pieces because of a scandal that he may or may not have even had knowledge of.

The 2011 Murdoch phone hacking scandal saw the closure of “News of the World” on the 7th of July 2011with son of Rupert, James Murdoch’s announcement of “News of the Worlds” final edition to be published on the 10th of July 2011. This proves, in the media industry, it is seemingly easier to fall then to fly. Society left stunned and appalled, Rupert Murdoch’s public image went from being strong successful to conniving and un-trustworthy.

Journalists hold a certain power over society in which they have the choice on how their findings are presented and acknowledged.  This power can easily become clouded when greed and power interfere with the original task of being an honest spokesperson for the public. The rise and fall of Rupert Murdoch’s credibility in the public eye is a concise example of journalistic corruption. Journalists must take in to precaution the repercussions of their actions and acknowledge what their personal duties entail, because the slightest mistake can see the something as large as the fall of a multi-million dollar company.

You are Tuning in to Tessa Rose..

Ahoy blogging buddies!

Excuse my silence, but await the awesome excuse. I have not had time to write on my blog lately because I have been projecting my voice across the country on SYN 90.7. Yes my friends, I have finally made my debut on the radio and might I say - I have fallen in love.
Placing rose coloured glasses in front of my blue eyes, to shade away the bad and make life a lovely reality. I feel inspired.
People often find themselves looking for a life purpose, or dwelling in self pity because they feel as if they are unable to find their purpose. Don't stress, don't fret, just smile.
I used to often find myself being a stress head, I over think things until my mind manages to make a tiny situation in to life crisis. But then I discovered something, a mental STOP.
Its not hard, just stop thinking - breathe - smile and try to think of the situation lightly. I usually end up laughing and realizing how stupid it is over thinking things.

So this was just a quick snap crackle and pop, I am off to make the most of this beautiful day in Melbourne because lets face it - they are rare!

Oh yeah, if you didn't get a chance to listen to the show here are the quick details! My class was on air from 10am to 1pm. I made my debut at 11:30, doing the inbetweeners show with some of the girls then continued on to my groups show "the lunch bunch" and to do my segment "arts on air" with a review of the play Boy Girl Wall. I wrapped up with some improvised nothings and rambles - as I always do.

Want to hear it for yourself?
Look out for the podcasts that I will be posting asap!
Want to listen live?

Theater Review: Boy Girl Wall by The Escapists

Creativity sculpted in to a 70 minute burst of quirky and artistic fun. The Escapist’s captivating production of “Boy Girl Wall” allows audiences from any demographic to have a light hearted laugh and a tear of joy. Don’t get me wrong, I am far from bias, therefore me saying that this production truly blew me away is a powerful thing. From the second he stepped on stage, the charming Lucas Stibbard captivated the audience, somewhat taking control of their emotions. He held this power to eliminate any scepticism one may have and turn it to optimism allowing every patron to leave the theatre with a smile from ear to ear.  He was truly a pleasure to watch, as he released these bursts of energy across the stage.

Audience captivation was definitely the key in this production. The use of Brecht style techniques, such as stepping out of character to address the audience, was a smart move for this piece. These techniques allow audience members to mentally adapt to the play on multiple levels. Lucas truly did optimise his talent on stage and used it to his advantage, conveying the story in a way that was fun and light hearted but still somewhat powerful.

This play was very well written, expressing an amusing and romantic story but also offering a powerful message, easy for audience members to relate to from their perspective.  Throughout the play, you will find these delightful quotes that reinforce the message behind Boy Girl Wall. A personal favourite of mine being when Lucas pointed out that; “being late and lost is the worst, you know why? Because being late and lost means that you are in the wrong place at the wrong time”. Don’t reference me on that one, it isn’t word for word but you get the gist.

Intelligent, fun and unique; and I am only now referencing to the idea of having a piece of chalk as one of the main stage props. This was such a creative idea, placing this dainty piece of chalk in Lucas’s pocket to be used throughout the play as a prop to demonstrate the message to the audience and also entertain in a new and spontaneous way. A great example of this being a point at the beginning of the play when an alarm sounds and for the sound to stop, Lucas was forced to draw a picture of an alarm clock on the wall and hit it. This was very clever.

As you can see, I truly only have good things to say about the Escapist’s “Boy Girl Wall”. This creative production has blown anything even close to constructive criticism out of the water because honestly there is not one thing I can criticise. With a play concluding with loud waves of cheering and praise, it seems as if I am not the only one that believes that “Boy Girl Wall” is a delightful modern masterpiece.

I thoroughly enjoyed my “Boy Girl Wall” experience on opening night at the MTC theatre in the heart of Melbourne city. I highly recommend this play to anyone who loves kind hearted humour and quirky fun. The Escapists have gone above and beyond in the creation of this play and should be confident that they have produced a blissful success.

The above review will be airing on local Melbourne radio station SYN 90.7 in this up-coming season along with an interview of Neridah Waters - on of the brains behind Boy Girl Wall and part of the theater group the escapists. It has been a pleasure working with the publicist for this production, Mayuca Pandita, and member of the escapists - Neridah Waters. My sincere thanks go out to not only Mayuca and Neridah, but The Escapists for putting this production together and the MTC theater for giving me the opportunity to experience this joyful piece of art!

Thank F&%$ its Friday.

Just a short blast of amazingness to kick off your weekend!
That 5 days of torturous reality has come to an end for the 48 hour bliss which is "the weekend".
Speaking from a nine-fiver working gal perspective that is, to all you hospitality workers who are slaving away all weekend - i truly feel for you! But in saying that, have fun serving me booze from behind the bar all weekend suckers ;)

I hope you all had an amazing week - Mine wasn't bad at all. Ended the week with a smile.
Need a pick me up? Are you currently think "f&%$ my life" .. well let me tell you a story that may make you smile!
For the last 3 months of living in my humble aboad in the northern suburbs, my strange asian neighbour has been peering in our windows. He does it in this odd way, where I assume he thinks that no one can tell he is doing it... Pretty much the only way to explain in awkward run by's and quick gazes as he darts his head back and forth at the window. Bizarre, correct? At first, I felt insecure but then I started to simply get used to it .. as wrong as that is. Well, today my friends it went to a whole new level. Approximately 10 minutes ago I was exiting the bathroom in my towel, only the be startled by those beady eyes glaring in the window. Fantastic.
More shock them shame from my behalf, but I do believe it is time to have words with this odd fellow.

Well my fellow blog rockers,
I hereby wish you an amazing weekend.
Make the most of it, because before we know it we will be sitting behind that desk itching to concur the sale goals, please our bosses and working our arses off to make everyone else happy.
Look at it this way .. Work = Money = Freedom to have amazing weekends.

Love always!

So Individual that it is Mainstream?

The suburb I live in is very cultured in the sense of this modern concept of the "hipster" or sometimes known as "indies".
The streets are polluted with ugly sweaters, big boots, scruffy beards and that awful mustard colour. Correct me if I am wrong, but this look started out as an expression to be different - a scream to be noticed, to be INDIVIDUAL. To me, it seems as if this craze has spread faster then the swine flue did a couple years back, they are bloody everywhere!
Okay, so here I am walking down the main stretch, surrounded by all these people striving to be individual in their ugly clothes and I notice - suddenly, I am the individual. Wearing my mainstream tight jeans and a singlet, or god forbid a colourful floral print dress, I am standing out from the crowd.
This phase of fashion confuses me, they all look like hairy homeless people. Most of the time, I am unsure whether I should innocently walk past them or give them a dollar out of sympathy. Bloody hipsters. They are so individual, that its mainstream. Congratulations, you conformed to a craze started by one individual - now that it is over, maybe you should dress like a normal human being.

I shouldn't just pin point hipsters, its just, they are the ones that I see everyday. They are the ones looking at me like I am bizarre - well, I am bizarre but they don't know that! I am not going to buy an itchy over sized ugly mustard sweater - I am not conforming. Fashions pass, just like the seasons. For now, I will just smile and observe their faces as they take a sip of their red wine that is merely for show because you can tell that the taste actually repulses them.

I could try and explain where this is coming from, but to be honest its completely random. That is just how my mind works. Blissfully bizarre and totally random!

I hope you all had an amazing easter and are enjoying being back at work, school ect.
Welcome back to reality!

Awake from your escape.

A sense of refreshment and bliss always seem to follow me after I have returned from the country. I feel very lucky that my father is still living in the house I grew up in, it gives me the opportunity to visit the place I consider as home whenever I like. Nestled in the beauty of the Australian country side, I have spent my last 24 hours sleeping in my childhood bedroom, reminiscing childhood memories with my sisters and laying in the sun by the pool. Leaving this afternoon, I felt truly peaceful and ready to return to my dodgy little house in the outer-suburbs of Melbourne, but I have a problem - that I will admit.
I always seem to assume, that just because I feel happy and at peace - that everyone else feels the same. It is unrealistic, and makes me seem a little self-absorbed but I think the source of this assumption comes from the difference of being around your family to suddenly being around acquaintances, room mates and innocent by-standers.

Your family, especially if you haven't seen them in a while, will have a smile to the moon and back from when they first set their eyes on you until the moment you say goodbye. It really justifies you existence by showing respect and making you feel welcome and loved. Then when you return to the city of strangers and people that see you everyday - being back hits you like the metro train in the face. This post is like a joke without a punchline - just some meaningless rambles of someone that wished they stayed at Dad's longer. The same person that is speaking about themselves in "second person" for no reason... I don't know what I am doing, back to speaking from my point of view.

Although the last two paragraphs would suggest that I am feeling a little blue - honestly I am feeling a-okay. Having some me time - sitting on the couch in my PJs with the house to myself :) The only downfall is watching my AFL team lose. Buggers have to whip themselves in to shape - on the tigers!

How are you my readers? Friends and curious strangers, absent mindedly stumbling upon this blog of pointless nothings.

In the spirit of the season, I would love to wish you all a happy and safe Easter. If you are spending your holiday season with the ones you love, such as family and true friends, hug them extra hard this Easter because you love them and they love you in return; and that is truly special.

Keep smiling - and if you are keeping up my blog entries, remember to expect the unexpected. In reference to what I may write next, you know as much as I do.

Happy Easter.

With love,
- Tessa Rose xx

Short & Sweet.

You know that amazing moment when you realize that your life is exactly where you want it to be.
No? Don't worry - It is just around the corner <3

The last few months, for myself personally, have not been easy.
Broken heart, thrown out of home, broken spine, learning how to walk again, moving state, starting a new job and course, rebuilding my life.. Drastic changes, but now I sit and smile as I think - I wouldn't change a thing.

With good will and the spirit of inspiration - I wish to thank everyone that has supported me through my endeavors.

Remember readers, you are never alone - Good friends and family would go to the moon and back just to make you smile :)

And because this is me talking, have some sarcasm on the side of this inspirational message - if no one loves you, get a cat and start knitting sweaters.. or depending on how depressed you are maybe get a few cats.

And, a huge thanks to my publicity team!

Have an amazing today and a blissful tomorrow,
I shall return it due time with more meaningless rambles.

Step in to the galaxy of the unknown, the galaxy inside my mind.

Double lives and hidden agendas...

A creative ploy in to a more interesting life or a tangled web of lies and deceit?
If you had the chance, to live a double life - would you?
Let me clarify - throughout life we are constantly learning new things and decifering our likes and dislikes to eventually shape up to be this person we have created.. We are entirely in control of the process of creating our lives.
Some, chose the path of self desire. Tailoring their life in a way that gives them maximum enjoyment and fulfillment - neglecting how others in society view them. I like to think of myself as one of those people, but lets face it - we are always going to care what other people think of us. But the next step is deciding on how you are going to let that affect you.
I find myself quite often being judged by others, such is life but I always try to take a mental stand and think "who are they to judge me, I'm having fun and that is all that matters". Unfortunately, this is not always easy though.
Swinging back on topic - what if you had the option to change who you are at will. For example - today I could be "Tessa - the clumsy and slightly ditsy girl with the crazy and sometimes intense charismatic attitude who laughs at irrelevant things" but then tonight I could be "Claire - the promiscuous bitch with an attitude, breaking hearts across the city (ie. the anti-Tessa).
I hold the power, yet, never would I take on the responsibility of making a dramatic 180 flip of my life, even if only for a short amount of time.

There are people that do find some sense of excitement similar to adrenalin by doing things like this though. What sparks my curiosity though is - are these people shameless liars?
How far is to far? People are meeting and associating with society as someone that they are not.

This confuses me immensely.. and then arises the question - if I could be a different person, would I?
No. Not a chance.
It took me a while to come to this conclusion .. living in a modern society fueled by greed and always having that lingering vision of a better life, sure it would be nice to live in luxury or even be able to buy wine that doesn't contain the shitty left over grapes and sells at $2 a bottle, but I chose this life. I took a risk, moving my entire life from one end of Australia to the other and you know what - I am living a regret free life.
To conclude this subject - we should embrace the freedom to be whoever we want to be. Don't let social status or sometimes even common life practice keep you down.
Take risks! We only live once.

On a lighter note, my career as a free-lance journalist took another step today. I like saying that, its makes me feel a little spesh when in reality I am a student working in a call center that writes blog entries and news articles in my spare time. Anyways! I had my first hands on experience in radio presentation today! My fellow classmates and I headed to the radio studio to suss it all out and record some demos.
Might I say - It was a blast! It has really sparked my enthusiasm towards this industry. I know this is my life calling, I just have to get through this dodgy waiting period before my career takes flight. Patience is key, not to mention I am still young! I am trying to embrace my chance to have fun while I can because shit will get SERIOUS before I know it! So, in regards to my demo - I have attatched the link to the podcast bellow. My ramble is in the approx 3 mins in, touching on the subject of awkward public transport encounters!
For those who don't know me - Hi, I am Tessa and you will hear my annoying voice say things such as "that last song was gypsy and the cat with piper song, you are listening to Tessa and Ayla on SYN"
After you hear that, you will be able to pick up when its me talking. I have one of those voices that you can hear from a mile away and never forget. I often get told I have a big mouth, I assume this isn't referring to the physical size of my mouth.

DEMO 1 - Screen and Media Class. "How Awkward!"

"I highly recommend you take a look!" - This Asian Man

Okie doke ladies and gents! Before I bid you a kind farewell, I wish to insert my thoughts in to your brains. What do ya'll have to look forward to?!
  • A review of the play "Boy Girl Wall" - google it!
  • Possibly an audio interview with local Melbourne based comedian.

Hold your applause, I know I'm amazing.

I always mention how I ramble on this blog - meaningless blabber about random stuff in my life.
Well, join me friends for another thrilling installment of bulls$&# !

I am trying to update my blog at least every couple of days - so it can be expected that sometimes you aren't going to get the best content out of me. I might now mention, I have a hangover. Two nights of heavy drinking with barely any sleep so this entry is not going to be fun.

It will be dark.. scary.. mysterious.

So, I would like to tell you a love story.. I love him to bits, maybe a little to much. We always have fun when we are together but for some reason I always feel bad when reality hits. I long to be with him but there is something about him that makes me ill. When we are together, its like a bomb of energy has exploded in side of me... I call him Jager, and his sexy brother's name is red bull. See what I did there? ey ey? ;)

When you think about it, why do we do this to ourselves? We go out to bars, pubs, clubs .. Spend all this money on this liquid that will either make or break you. Its social science though - we seem to be tuned to think that alcohol is this "hero". It can make your dreams come true! Turn shy to social, tired to lively, awkward to humorous but, more generally, class to mess. Don't get me wrong here though - I love going out, being social and having that little to much to drink. What I am getting at is, drinking alcohol is a choice and whatever repercussions that arise are self inflicted. I hate going out and seeing girls crying in the bathroom and shit, looking like clowns with makeup all over their face and they all say the same thing... Usually: "omg he is such a dick" or "omg she is such a slut". (excuse the french).
Did your mum ever say "if you dont have anything nice to say, dont say anything at all?!"
If you are going to get all emotional and messy - maybe grab a water instead of your next vodka sunrise.

Completely disregarding everything I just said - my weekend was amazing if you need know :)
Kind of like this!
<----

I do have something serious to tell you though...
I don't want to alarm you but, if you have gotten this far - you have just wasted precious time of your life that you will never get back. I stole it from you. It is mine now. There is nothing you can do about it. Take that.

HA - hooray to pointless blog entries!

Okay kids - to whip things back in to action. I will return next with something decent! I am off to learn the workings of a radio studio tomorrow so welcome back my media/journalism related posts!
I'll let you know how it goes and my thoughts on the process.

Hope you all had fulfilling weekends and that this week flies by like a dream to lead you to the next weekend.
& Remember something that I always seem to forget - "work to live, don't live to work"

Love Always - Tessa Rose :)

"Cheers to the freaking weekend"

At last, the weekend has arrived friends!

Big plans?
Personally, my weekend is a mass of disorganization. There is cheap drinks going at the local pub tonight but that is all I am aware of. Best idea ever - I should get drunk and do a blog post with photos and all. Keep tuned - you may be shocked!

So, to keep it short and simple - My day has been about as amusing as an empty cookie jar. I did have a lady tell me that "the cervix is like a little donut" =| Awkward right?

Well this has been fun and all, but I am going to leave you all with something to ponder...

"When we think a thing, the thing we think is not the thing we think we think, but only the thing we think we think we think."

Have fun with that mind f&*$

Much love x

A Day in the Life;

Ahoy there ladies and gentlemen!

Bored? Procrastinating doing something important? or Simply interested in my meaningless rambles?
You are in for a treat! A personal anecdote of the most recent happenings in my life (hold your applause).

I recently realized that, in the last few months I have pretty much done the opposite of a sea change. Going from the laid back lifestyle of living on the coast to the upbeat and busy antics of the city I have often found myself confused and lost - not so much physically like wondering the streets for hours trying to figure out where I am, but more so mentally. It is definitely a big culture shock but, after two months of living in the big smoke, I am starting to adapt to my new surroundings and honestly - I am loving it.

Have you ever been through a big lifestyle change?
Then you will understand that its no where close to an easy process adapting to the new atmosphere.
But, the thing about life is, as bad as things get - eventually things get better. It is just how it works. The way you live life is really influenced by your state of mind, so my recommendation? Think of it this way - without the bad, how could we truly respect the good? If life was good all the time, we would take things for granted and get bored.

Deep hey? I am sooo alternative, such a hipster! Jokes - I am ahead on my course work, so I am using my time to ramble on about random shit. You know what would be cool though?
Feedback! Do you have something to say about my last few paragraphs? Have you read "The Tessa Rose Philosophy"?
Tell me what you think! Are you repulsed? Have I driven you to a point of insanity? Put you to sleep?
I want to know - good or bad:  constructive criticism, whatever - challenge me!

Anyways - a bit of personal news, I fond out yesterday that I got accepted for my first job since moving to the city (YAHOO). That's another thing about living in a big city - yeah its a culture shock but its also a shock to the bank account! Expensive is an understatement & employment means I can keep living in a place that I love! So you could definitely say that I am stoked :)

NOW: Things to look forward to in my blog!
- A creative piece I am writing about a personal experience that put me in hospital for two weeks, bought my friends and family together and  really changed my life. Trust me, it is not something you want to miss out on.
- A review of the play "Boy Girl Wall" is coming at you within the next month
- Maybe a few reviews of some gigs around the city & stuff seeming I have a job now and can afford tickets!
- Expect the unexpected - keep your eye out because you never know when I might post something totally AWESOME.

Thanks for reading,
I hope to hear from some of you soon!

Legit though, this photo confirms my level of boredom ^^

Is is time to embrace the change?

Is it time to embrace the change?
The war between broadcast, print and new age media – Tessa O’Neill reports.

The media industry thrives on perfection in the distribution. As technology advances, the distribution of breaking news is becoming easier with the use of new age media such as the internet. But, what does this mean for the future of print media such as magazines and newspapers and broadcast media such as television and radio?
We are living in a modern society that is naturally fuelled by the need to be able to access what we want, when we want it. In regards to news, the internet allows society to view and read all levels of news content from different sources, any time that we wish. This is most likely the reason that the internet is quickly growing to be the centre for mass media.

In an investigation to truly elaborate on how different media networks handle one specific story, I looked in to the case of 58 year old Victorian sex offender that was recently arrested in Northern QLD. The story titled “Police in Hunt for Known Victorian Sex Offender Arrest Man in Queensland” was posted on the Courier Mail website on March 19 at 5:21pm. The story, now titled “Arrest after woman recognises man in Queensland cafe – Cops catch fugitive”, was then printed in today’s (20/01/12) Herald Sun on page two.

In a comparison between print and online, this example proves that the internet is a more reliable source for the most current breaking news. Information can be posted within minutes of the confirmation of an investigation, rather than waiting to be printed in tomorrow’s issue.

What if we were to focus on the comparison of internet vs broadcast media such as television and radio? Via television, society can be informed of current news events by what are commonly known as “news bulletins”. The different channels generally air their news bulletins around the time known as “prime time” which is generally in the evening around 5pm. These programs last for approximately half an hour to an hour, conveying international news, national news, regional news, local news, entertainment news, sports and weather.

Similar to television, radio broadcasts news programs at designated times but usually in shorter packages. Commonly, most radio stations will air news at the beginning of every hour and will usually run for approximately 3 – 8 minutes. Some, more news orientated, stations will air longer news programs of approximately half an hour in length, usually around prime time.

Focussing again on the case of the arrest of the Victorian sex offender, this story was aired in a 59 second clip on the ABC’s 7pm news program last night. When looking in to how different media networks handle one specific story, you begin to notice a pattern. The evident pattern in relation to this story shows that the internet was the first source to release the information, followed by the ABC’s news program that airs in a later prime time slot and then eventually in the Herald Sun delivered to your door step the next morning.

In conclusion, the change of times is evident, seeing news shoot across the globe within minutes via the use of the internet. Although print and broadcast media is still a reliable source, it is clear to see they are slowly becoming a thing of the past as we embrace the fact that the internet can deliver us any information we desire, merely at the click of a button.

Knowing that my blog is about as messy as a teenagers bedroom, take my hand and let me guide you through my wilderness of posts :)

The first thing you will discover on my blog is a promotional advertisement for my university course. I recently wrote this as a project and may be airing it on Melbourne's local community youth radio station SYN FM 90.7

Next is my Media Network Proposal - "pure rose". Unless you are a potential employer or really enthused about Australian Censorship and Classification regulations, I suggest you don't read this because it will probably put you to sleep!

"Are You Subjective to Their Lies?" is an article that touches on the media & documentary industry, demonstrating how difficult it can be to filter the truth from the lies.

This one is really fun! Next, you will stumble upon my personal philosophy! Pretty much like my personal instruction manual for when I mentally malfunction and go crazy. Let me enlighten your puny brains children, or read it and see if you can figure out how to really mess with my head and annoy me :)

-Just a heads up, if you can't already sense it, these is a lot of sarcasm scattered throughout this post-

Lastly, my creative response to JC Burke's "The Story of Tom Brennan". This was a project I did a couple of years ago that I thought I would throw up just for kicks. Creative writing isn't my best strength so don't be shocked if you are reading through and thinking "wow.. this is rubbish".

And don't forget...

To laugh at this terrible photo of a younger me wearing Floaties togs!

Media Network Proposal

Last year, I was assigned the task of evaluating my views on Australian censorship. In response, I created a proposal for an online media network to clearly convey my views.

PUREROSE.NET PROPOSAL

Part one – Introduction to PureRose.net

The following report is a summary of overall censorship restrictions in Australia and how we at purerose.net correspond in how we conduct our online television and film portal. We at purerose.net strongly believe that the age people gain maturity to separate fiction from reality widely varies. Generally, we believe that people who have a love for the arts should have the maturity to view and access films that may have sexual or violent content without obtaining offence. This portal will be aimed at young adults who have a passion for artistic television and film, appealing mainly to people over the age of 17. Purerose.net will be accessible twenty four hours a day, 364 days a year, disregarding the modern censorship restrictions on free to air television.

Part Two – The Future of Internet Portals

The world of media is fiercely changing, online anything is available at any time and purerose.net believes that what society wishes to view shouldn’t be restricted. The advances in accessibility of internet, is causing the decrease of popularity of free to air television and an increase of online television portals. People of society want to see whatever they want whenever they want and online that is possible. Especially with the arrival of exceptionally fast speed NBN broadband, allowing people to load full movies within a few short minutes. Free to air television is the past; Purerose.net is prepared for the future.

Part Three – Current Censorship and Classification Regulations

Currently, society’s viewing access is restricted by the Australian classification board of the OFLC (Office of Film and Literature Classification). The OFLC is a group of “experts” employed by the Australian government to evaluate films and television shows and make the final decisions on what is acceptable in this country for certain age groups and what is not acceptable at all. The OFLC claims to believe that adults should be able to view whatever they like, whenever they wish but children should be protected. It is an understandable statement, but in saying this, why do they have the power to decide the age of adult maturity and what is acceptable for us to see. As previously stated, people reach levels of maturity at different ages yet a mature person under the age of 18 years legally is unable to view films and shows with a classification of R18+, at purerose.net these regulations don’t apply. Purerose.net believes that people should be able to evaluate their own level of maturity and decide what they can and cannot view.

Society’s morals should not be in the hands of the OFLC. If parents do not want their children to view certain content, then it is their responsibility to protect their children and closely monitor what they are observing on the television and internet. Responsible people should not have to be restricted on what they wish to view, simply because certain content has been deemed inappropriate by a group of strangers. At purerose.net, the trust is placed in the hands of the viewer to make decisions on what they believe is appropriate and inappropriate.

Part Four – Security

Under the circumstances, being that purerose.net is of an artistic nature, we will not be censoring sexual or violent content. At purerose.net, we believe that art should not have to be censored. In saying this, it is the viewers responsibility to decide what they wish to see and hear.

At purerose.net, current legalised restrictions will not apply. In our view, anyone who wishes to view films and television shows of artistic content should be able to do so whenever and wherever. This includes some films that have been refused classification in Australia such as Ken Park. Purerose.net has very limited restrictions, having only a basic terms and conditions page when you first attempt to enter the site. The following is an outline of the initial warning:

WARNING

The following portal contains content that may be offensive to sensitive viewers. This portal contains material that may be of a violent nature or sexually explicate. Be aware that current government classification restrictions do not apply to this portal. Viewer discretion is advised.
Press CONTINUE to accept these terms and conditions.

By pressing continue, they agree to take full liability in what they wish to view and hear.

Upon entry of purerose.net, there will be an option to sign up as a “pure-rose member”. If patrons wish to do so, they are then able to create a list of their preferred/favourite films and programs. We will then take this information and are able recommend similar films and ensure advertisements of films or programs irrelevant to the member do not appear. They will also be able to alter their profile settings, where they can personally censor what they view. For example, listing genres or specific film classifications as in-accessible from that account, ensuring that members can only view the things they desire.

Part Five – Advertising of PureRose.net

Online film and television portals of an artistic nature are rare and when attempting to discover them through search engines, it is very easy to stumble upon content you aren’t looking for such as pornography or scams. Taking this in to consideration, we are trying to make it as simple as possible to inform the public of purerose.net. We are launching an internet advertising campaign, which will involve advertisements in the ’advertising section’ of popular social networking websites such as face book and twitter, listings on related websites such as artistic film/program review websites and opportunities for joining members to invite friends to join to receive prizes such as art house movie passes. This campaign will be running for approximately 4 months, then will be reduced to brief advertisements on specific websites and the launch of the PureRose face book and twitter pages.

Part Six – Film & Program Relevance at Purerose.net

The following table provides examples of which programs and films are relevant to purerose.net and irrelevant.
